Forgive Yourself
We forgive others so easily…
People who hurt us…
People who never apologized…
People who walked away like nothing happened…
But when the mistake is ours?
We turn into strictest judge…
As in my case,
I replay the moments, I wish I could fix…
I punish my self for things, I didn’t understand back then…
I hold on to guilt…
For a long time, I believed this was the “right” thing to do…
That punishing my self made me feel as responsible…
That guilt made me think, I am better person…
That carrying the weight forever was the only way to prove I cared…
Because, forgiving my self felt wrong..
Felt like justifying what i did…
Felt like escaping responsibility for the mistake I did…
Often, I had many questions running through my mind…
Is it morally right to forgive my self?
Do I even deserve peace?
But slowly.. painfully… I learned something different…..
Self forgiveness isn’t about forgetting what happened.
It is understanding that, you are human, you are allowed to learn from your mistakes and grow.
“Being human means being imperfect”
It’s not an excuse.
It’s not self justification.
what matter more than mistake is what i do after the it…
I stop hiding from the truth and allow my self to sit with it…
Self forgiveness is not simple as we think...
It’s slow, hard and honest process.
Because, it requires immense courage to admit the truth, sit with it, take responsibility – still choose to heal.
It’s not escaping the responsibility… It is accepting what happened without drowning in shame.
The regret I still feel – that was the punishment.
The loss I faced – that was the punishment.
The awareness I gained – that was the punishment.
Self forgiveness didn’t erase any of these. It simply stopped me from hurting my self and looking my pastself as an enemy.
Punishment shows you what not to repeat;
Self Forgiveness shows you how to live again.
Yes, I messed up.
Yes, I could have done better.
But still deserve peace and another chance…
Not because I am perfect, but because I am growing…..
And maybe… so are you…
Forgive Yourself….
when you start to forgive yourself.. That’s when real healing starts…
